Nosferatu

F W Murnau 1922

Based on Bram Stoker’s ‘Dracula’, this film version breaks away from some of the stereotypical techniques of German Expressionist cinema (shadows/interior sets etc) by employing outdoor landscape shots at crucial moments. This sets the film apart from its progenitor (Caligari) and it became the primary influence on many remakes on the same subject. (62 minutes)
