Sherlock Junior
Buster Keaton 1926
The film is based on the idea of a cinema projectionist who falls asleep at the wheel and dreams he has become involved in the plot of the film he is projecting. The film contains a remarkable ‘play within a play’ where Keaton walks into the cinema screen
and suffers the consequences as the location of the shots switches rapidly from one to another. This single scene gained the film a cult following among members of the cinema profession who saw it time and time again to try and figure out how Keaton had filmed this. (44 minutes)
Score by Paul Robinson commissioned by the Cambridge Film Festival. 35mm
