The General

Buster Keaton 1926

Inspired by a true Civil War incident, the film follows Southern engine driver Buster as he strains to retrieve his beloved (kidnapped) and his beloved railway engine ‘The General’ (hi-jacked) from the hands of Union spies. This absolute gape, gasp and laugh-til-you-bust masterpiece of silent comedy is a jewel of physical and psychological precision timing. (77 minutes)
