Warning Shadows

Arthur Robison 1923

While entertaining at a country house with a shadow play, a showman senses the passions of the guests beneath the polite surface and hypnotises them with a vision of what could happen if these passions were set free. Warning Shadows, like Bunuel’s ‘The Exterminating Angel’, exposes the dark underside of bourgeois society and is a testament to the subversive libidinal power of cinema. (63 minutes)
